Shifting our focus away from the youth leagues for a moment; perhaps the featured league that we should be spotlighting is the Charter School League. This league is comprised of six different charter schools; Academy for Urban solutions, Bridgescape, Focus Learn Academy, Life Skills Academy, Premier Academy, and Youth Build. All of these schools educate, develop, and prepare their students for life in the corporate world; with student’s ages ranging from 16-22 years old. What these kids are doing is amazing!! We started this league to help develop new sports programs and expand already existing programs for Columbus community schools. Some of the schools had no athletic programs and some had very low participation. Now that we are approaching week 8 of the season we have six basketball teams with full rosters and coaching staff. The Lab is a safe place where these schools can play league games and participate in activities, which will help drug and crime prevention. RNB is located at The Lab on 80 South 6th Street in downtown Columbus just north of Grant hospital. Join us for the RNB Charter School League Championship game on Tuesday, February 7th at 4:00pm.
